Collect the test report and any written notice, then confirm what failed and what the issuing authority expects next. A failed radio coverage test identifies a problem to investigate; it does not, by itself, define the equipment or full project scope.
Build a clear record of the problem
Ask the authority to clarify any missing or ambiguous instructions. Preserve the original report so the provider and authority can work from the same findings.
- Building address, occupancy, floor plans and relevant project changes.
- Test date, method, public-safety radio systems evaluated and reported deficiencies.
- Any existing enhancement system and its previous records.
- The notice, issuing authority, stated response date and requested next action.
Define the next scope decision
Clarify whether the finding concerns baseline building coverage, an existing system fault or a completed installation’s acceptance test. Ask a qualified provider what further assessment is needed and how its results will inform design, repair or other follow-up.
If a bi-directional amplifier (BDA) or broader emergency responder communication enhancement system (ERCES) is proposed, request a written scope with responsibilities, exclusions and completion criteria.
Fort Lauderdale: a local example
Fort Lauderdale directs owners with a failed Delivered Audio Quality (DAQ) test or citation to discuss the results with its Telecommunications Coordinator at BDA@FortLauderdale.gov. Its guidance then describes contractor evaluation, plan review, installation/testing and follow-up inspection. This is city-specific guidance; confirm the process serving your property. Keep follow-up responsibilities visible
Record who submits documents, coordinates reviews, performs the work and requests follow-up testing. Use the applicable notice and confirmed authority instructions to track the next action.
Contact BDA Systems Compliance Experts with your notice and test results to discuss the appropriate assessment and follow-up scope.
