Start with a public-safety radio coverage assessment before deciding what equipment your building needs. A bi-directional amplifier (BDA) can be part of an emergency responder communication enhancement system (ERCES), but an equipment proposal should follow measured conditions and applicable requirements.
Florida’s radio-coverage statute includes building-specific provisions and exemptions. Testing and any proposed remedy should be evaluated in that context. Florida Statutes §633.202(18)
Tell us what prompted the testing request
Prepare the building address, occupancy, floor plans, project stage and any fire department notice. Include previous survey reports and details of an existing enhancement system, if available. Identify the public-safety radio systems that need to be evaluated; a cellular reception check does not establish their performance.
Confirm which test you need
A baseline assessment evaluates building coverage. Acceptance testing evaluates a completed installation against its applicable criteria. Inspection and maintenance address an existing system. Ask the provider to identify the purpose, method and limits of the proposed work before scheduling it.
Agree on the report deliverables
Confirm who reviews the report and whether additional authority-witnessed testing or documentation will be needed. A survey report is evidence for the next decision; it is not an approval guarantee.
- Radio systems and frequencies evaluated, test conditions and measurement method.
- Test locations shown against floor plans, with results and identified deficiencies.
- Applicable evaluation criteria, limitations and recommended follow-up.
